Fractional IT Leadership

An experienced IT leader without hiring a full-time CIO.

Starting price
From $4,000/month
How it works
Ongoing, usually reviewed every six months
What changes the price
Depends how often you need them. Most companies use two to four days a month.

What problem this solves

One named, experienced person who plans what you spend on technology, decides what to keep and what to retire, handles the vendor contracts, and turns up to your leadership meetings prepared. This is the person who makes the calls — not the person who fixes the printer.

What we take off your team's plate

  • 01

A plan for the next year or two

Tied to what your business is doing, not to what a vendor is selling this quarter.

  • 02

    The IT budget

Built each year and each quarter, with the overspend explained in language your finance team accepts.

  • 03

    Vendors and contracts

Choosing them, negotiating them, tracking renewals, and cutting the things you’re paying for twice.

  • 04

    Turning up to your meetings

A standing update, in the leadership meetings you already hold.

  • 05

    Backup for your IT person

Someone senior for them to check decisions with, plus help hiring when you’re ready to grow the team.

This is right if

  • Companies that need an experienced IT leader without paying a full-time CIO salary
  • Merging two companies that now have two of everything
  • Companies whose IT leader just left and who need someone steady while they decide what’s next
  • Leadership teams about to make one expensive technology decision

This is the wrong choice if

  • Answering everyday IT requests — pair this with our Managed IT service or your own staff
  • Companies who want someone to build things rather than decide things
  • Companies who need someone in the office most of the week

How it goes

  1. Month 1

A look at how things stand: spend, contracts, people. First draft of the plan.

  2. Month 2

Plan and budget agreed with your leadership team, and a regular update set up.

  3. Ongoing

In your leadership meetings, replanning each quarter, keeping vendors and projects honest.

Questions we get

Is this the same person every month?
Yes. You get one named person. Knowing your business is most of the value; a rotating cast of consultants is not what this is.
Can you work alongside our IT manager?
That’s a common arrangement, and often the point. We handle planning, budget and vendor negotiation; they keep running the day-to-day.
What if we hire a full-time CIO later?
Good. We’ll write the job description, help you interview, and hand over everything we’ve documented. This is designed to be easy to end.

Not sure what you need?

Answer a few questions and we'll suggest the service that fits — or tell you plainly if we're not the right company for this.
